Ano Mera

Ano Mera is located 8 km. away from Mykonos Town, in the middle of the island and is the most populated village of the island, consisted by several scattered settlements around the monastery and the Panagia Tourliani church which constitute the center of the village. This pure cycladian architecture monastery was built in the 16th century and it was restructured in 1767 by impressive elements, worth to see.
On the hill opposite Ano Mera village, the Paleokastro Monastery stands where there are remains of the Byzantine Castle and its fortress, as well as graves of the ancient Geometric period of Greece.
